Early Thursday morning, Viacom submitted paperwork to Manhattan federal court which filed for Cablevision to stop unauthorized programing being streamed on such devices as the iPad.

Viacom claims that streaming through Cablevision’s Optimum App is violating the terms of their contract, which only gives the rights for distribution on cable TV systems. A Cablevision spokesperson states that the company is within its rights.

The lawsuit seeks $2 million per violation of trademark, various other damages, and the immediate removal of any streaming availability.
