Sony Warehouse

In the London riots last night there was a big hit to the music industry–the Sony DADC warehouse was destroyed by fire.

Darren Hemmings, the head of Digital Marketing for PIAS Entertainment, shared this confirmed information with us via Twitter:

OK: I can confirm that the Sony DADC warehouse in Enfield did burn to the ground, and Sony holds PIAS stock.

I’m getting quoted a lot so want to reiterate: we know DADC was destroyed & are waiting to confirm exactly how badly this has affected PIAS.

The official statement from the PIAS website:

There was a fire last night at the Sony DADC warehouse which services the physical distribution for [PIAS] in the UK and Ireland. [PIAS] is working closely with SonyDADC who are implementing their emergency plans. [PIAS]‘s UK offices in London and all other areas of our business are unaffected.

More information will be communicated shortly to all our labels and partners.

A large number of major and indie labels will have been affected by this. Luckily, all staff has been said to be safe. We can be thankful that it was the warehouse and not the offices, as some initially thought. As more information is released, this post will be updated.
