The New York Times describes a band taking on Ticketmaster as a boycott of the company’s exorbitant fees on concert tickets. To help fans avoid the fees, the band String Cheese Incident gave 50 friends $20,000 in cash, and had them purchase tickets at the venue. They then took those tickets and sold them to fans at face value (plus shipping costs).
