Apple made the much-anticipated announcement of the iPhone 5 yesterday, to spectators in person and fans watching the live stream. A big part of the announcement was the clear increase of Facebook integration in the new device and iOS. The companies are deepening their connection with one another.
Though the visible changes will be small, the implications socially are larger. Now users can share what they have purchases through iTunes on their Facebook timeline. The bigger change is that now when browsing iTunes, shoppers can see what products their friends have liked. Social consumers are a big study focus, but it is evident that people are more likely to purchase when they see that their friends like that item.
So, musicians, once this goes live head on over and have your fans “like” your music on iTunes. I’m interested in seeing if Apple comes out with a social chart based on these numbers.
Do you think this will make a difference in anyone’s iTunes sales? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
