According to AllFacebook’s various sources, Facebook is beginning to ask users to verify the names of friends on the social networking site. It is a well-known fact that fake profiles are not looked highly upon in the community, though FB is stating that these verifications are not being used for enforcement of anti-spam policies.

Facebook does state that they are using the data to better understand how its profiles are being used. While I’m sure this is the case, some commenters on the article linked above are stating that profiles are being suspended in relation to these verification prompts.

True or not, take a look at the name on your Facebook profile, and if it isn’t your legal name (or close to it), decide if it’s worth having your profile suspended. Has anyone run into these issues? Let us know in the comments below!
